Martial Arts Defense
Martial arts defense techniques have been designed to
optimize the physical potential of the human body. Of course, most styles
have also been designed to aid people with conscious development as
well. The difference between these "arts" techniques and those
of painting or dancing however, is that they are more oriented toward
combat situations.
Of course, when it comes to combat, there are different attitudes which
may be presented within the martial arts. Defense-oriented training
serves to protect a practitioner from being attacked by others. Some
people wish to learn techniques geared toward offense. However, many
of the instructional options available today do not encourage these
lines of thinking.
Martial arts defense practitioners often face extra challenge when
dealing with competitive sport scenarios. Some styles lend themselves
better to tournament use. Others hold less competitive philosophies.
Many people who enjoy competing will often study different styles in
order to have the advantages of multiple perspectives.
